My new composition Echoing Green for SATB choir commissioned by Caritas Chamber Choir is completed and will be performed in March in two concerts in Kent:
March 23rd – 7.30 pm – St Nicholas-at-Wade, CT7 ONR
March 24th – 3 pm – Goodnestone Church, CT3 IPL
The concert programme will feature choral music on the theme of spring. My composition is based on the poem by William Blake The Echoing Green.
The Echoing Green
by William Blake
The sun does arise,
And make happy the skies.
The merry bells ring
To welcome the Spring.
Thesky-lark and thrush,
The birds of the bush,
Sing louder around,
To the bells’ cheerful sound.
While our sports shall be seen
On the Echoing Green.
Old John, with white hair
Does laugh away care,
Sitting under the oak,
Among the old folk,
They laugh at our play,
And soon they all say.
‘Such, such were the joys.
When we all girls & boys,
In ouryouth-time were seen,
On the Echoing Green.’
Till the little ones weary
No more can be merry
The sun does descend,
And our sports have an end:
Round the laps of their mothers,
Many sisters and brothers,
Like birds in their nest,
Are ready for rest;
And sport no moreseen ,
On the darkening Green.
Hopefully, you will be able to attend the concert. If not, there will be probably a live Facebook stream, therefore check Facebook on those days.
