{"id":300,"date":"2018-04-15T22:01:20","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T21:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.peterbajetta.eu\/en\/?p=300"},"modified":"2018-05-10T22:11:23","modified_gmt":"2018-05-10T21:11:23","slug":"finalist-at-caritas-international-competition-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.peterbajetta.eu\/en\/blog\/2018\/04\/15\/finalist-at-caritas-international-competition-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Finalist at Caritas International Competition 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am very pleased to announce that my composition <em>Snow<\/em> for SATB choir has been selected to participate in the finals of Caritas Chamber Choir&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caritaschamberchoir.com\/competition.html\" rel=\"noopener\">International Emerging Composer Competition 2018<\/a>. The competition is held in Canterbury (Kent, United Kingdom) and it is organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caritaschamberchoir.com\/\">Caritas Chamber Choir<\/a>. Every year there is a new theme and a new jury member. Last year&#8217;s theme was <em>The Canterbury Tales<\/em> by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geoffrey_Chaucer\" rel=\"noopener\">Geoffrey Chaucer<\/a> and the judge was the American composer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidconte.net\/\">David Conte<\/a>. My piece <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterbajetta.eu\/en\/works\/?mgc_8=3\/choral&amp;mgi_8=243\/chauntecleer\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Chauntecleer<\/em><\/a> was selected and very well performed by Caritas conducted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caritaschamberchoir.com\/director.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Benedict Preece<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s the theme is <em>The Garden of England<\/em> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ragnarbohlin.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ragnar Bohlin<\/a>, Director of the San Francisco Symphonic Chorus, will be the judge<em>.<\/em>\u00a0Composers were asked to write an original composition with any text that\u00a0have a connection to Kent. I chose the poem <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poemhunter.com\/poem\/snow-2\/comments\/page-1\/\"><em>Snow<\/em><\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walter_de_la_Mare\">Walter de la Mare<\/a> as living in Estonia this year I have seen quite a lot of it \ud83d\ude00<br \/>\nText in its simplicity was very inspiring and I tried to reflect this in the vocal style along with evocative and rich harmonies.<\/p>\n<p>Really looking forward attending the performance in July!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am very pleased to announce that my composition Snow for SATB choir has been selected to participate in the finals of Caritas Chamber Choir&#8217;s International Emerging Composer Competition 2018.
